Achieve effective security monitoring of all infrastructure no matter the environment they reside (cloud or on-premises)
For the bank’s digital transformation achievements, leverage on cloud computing was inevitable, and thus the need to have visibility ineffective monitoring of security events in her hybrid environment.
Prior to now, the bank relied on an on-premise Security monitoring solution that addresses security monitoring from the perspective of the network perimeter.
The challenge with this approach is that the cloud’s perimeter is at the access layer and extending network visibility across multiple environments creates a lot of bottlenecks and integration complexities to achieve just enough monitoring. Also, capacity limitation, resource management, and SIEM product management demands mean the engineers spend more time troubleshooting and maintaining uptime of the SIEM on-premises as against getting desired value
Infoprive’s Integration team, in partnership with AT&T Security, delivered on a project to deploy a SIEM solution with the ability to monitor the bank’s infrastructure in all environments in use (cloud and on-premises)
AT&T Security’s USM Anywhere is a SaaS product that allows the bank to gain visibility at the platform level for Azure and AWS by deploying sensors in those environments and reporting security logs to the central server over the internet. AT&T Security manages the infrastructure required to ensure optimal service to all subscribers thereby taking away SIEM infrastructure management demands from the bank.
Also, on-premises resources are not left out as sensors for common hypervisors (VMWare and Hyper-V) are available to take advantage of having platform visibility on those environments while addressing the network routing complexity and latency issues of on-premises SIEM by allowing resources with outbound access to the internet send logs directly to the cloud service.
The bank is pleased with the value derived from USM Anywhere and has taken advantage of its various features to streamline processes and gain better confidence in the capabilities of its Security Operations Team
